Suzuki Ireland has introduced a new special edition of the popular Swift. The new Suzuki Swift Attitude has a sporty look inspired by the Swift Sport and comes with a cheap to run 1.2-litre petrol engine with 90hp.
The Attitude is now available on the road from €17,245 in Ireland and comes with a good standard specification. Unique styling features include a mesh front grille with chrome trim, polished 16″ wheels, rear upper spoiler and front, side and rear carbon effect skirts.
The Swift is available from €15,445 in Ireland and is Suzuki’s most well-known model around the world. A new model debuted in 2017 with more technology and improved design.
A 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine is also available in the Swift range. The Attitude model is sold solely with the 1.2-litre engine and five speed manual gearbox.
It has a CO2 emissions figure of 108g/km (NEDC tested) and combined fuel consumption when tested under WLTP regulation is 5.5l /100km.
The Swift Attitude is available in Fervent Red, Pure White, Premium Silver, Super Black, Mineral Grey and Burning Red. Metallic colours are available as a €370 cost option.
According to Suzuki, the Attitude offers a stand out sporting design and is an ideal model for younger buyers who may perhaps look to aspire
to the 1.4-litre Boosterjet Sport model in the future.

We all do our best to prevent becoming victims of crime, but unfortunately the reality of smash and grabs is prevalent in our country. If you haven’t been a victim of a smash and grab theft, then you most likely know someone who has. This type of theft has been around for many years and it’s unlikely to be resolved any time soon, so it’s up to motorists to protect themselves as much as possible.

Mercedes Benz GLC 300 4matic accessories
As we went to press, a mid-life update for Australia’s best-selling premium-priced medium SUV, the Mercedes-Benz GLC, was arriving in showrooms. Chief among the improvements it brings are more powerful four-cylinder petrol engines in 48-volt mild hybrid drivetrains.
I drove the GLC 300 4Matic, which has a 190kW 2.0-liter turbo-petrol, assisted by a 10kW/150Nm electric motor. Claimed fuel consumption is 7.1-7.4L/100km. The new GLC 300 is livelier to drive than the 155kW 2.0-liter turbo GLC 250 model it replaces. Though smooth enough, the updated engine is noisy, especially at higher engine revs where the extra power can be felt. For something wearing the three-
pointed star, it’s not good enough.
The new 300 engine’s altered characteristics meant changes to the control software of the GLC’s standard nine-speed automatic. Again, there’s a lack of proper Mercedes-Benz polish.
The transmission is prone to holding gears too long, sluggish shifting at light throttle openings
and jerky changing when the accelerator is pressed quickly.
Both variants of the updated GLC 300 driven at the international presentation in Germany, an SUV
wagon and a Coupe, had raucous engines and sub-standard transmissions. So the problems seem likely to be inherent.
Other models in the freshened range include a 145kW 2.0-liter turbo, again with mild hybrid and all-wheel drive, in the GLC 200. Prices for the new GLC models had not been announced as we went to press. Expect start money of around $65,000 for the GLC200, and about $75,000 for the GLC300. Go to carsales.com.
au for dealer prices. It’s not certain there will be any types of diesel in the 2020 GLC line-up. Mercedes-Benz Australia sources say demand for these has slipped steeply since the arrival of the original GLC in 2015.
But the plug-in petrol-electric hybrid version of the GLC, due out in Europe at the end of 2019, is
being considered for Australia.
High-performance AMG-modified versions of both GLC wagon and Coupe are scheduled
to arrive late in the year, around December.
Exterior changes to the updated GLC are fairly minor: front and rear bumpers redesigned, standard LED headlights and new tail-lights. Instead, Mercedes-Benz has invested mainly in upgrading the SUV’s core tech.
There are changes to the standard steel-spring suspension that aim to improve ride comfort, one of the current GLC’s shortcomings. Adaptive shock absorbers and air-spring suspension will be available.
The Air Body Control option, as Mercedes-Benz calls it, brings good comfort and above-average
handling. If the genuine trail-blazing ability is what you’re after, the Offroad Engineering package adds real crawling and climbing talent. Also worthwhile are improvements to the GLC’s infotainment and driver-assistance systems. These are upgraded to match, more or less,
the functionality found in recent Mercedes-Benz models like the A-Class hatchback. But the lack of substantial styling changes and the unimpressive new 300 drivetrain make this GLC facelift more of a faceplant for Mercedes-Benz.

Are you fed-up with ordering Land Rover parts online? You have to scour through old parts catalogues or head to unofficial sites online, cross-referencing part numbers and seeing if there are any compatibility issues. It's a bit of a palaver.
Recently, I tried Autodoc, a car parts supplier, based in Germany. I spent around £500-ish on bits for my daily runabout to renew the bushes and suspension.
Here's what I thought to the online motor factors.Things I liked about using Autodoc
First off, the price. This is often a key purchasing consideration for many Land Rover fans, who tend to be rather austere (tight). Autodoc were the cheapest source I could find for the OEM springs and dampers I wanted. They were competitive on bushes too. If you visit the site often, you'll see they run frequent sales too.
The second thing I really enjoyed was having the option of different manufacturers. Most Land Rover-only websites will give you the choice of one, or two, different parts suppliers. Searching through the Autodoc site, for TD5 Defender shock absorbers, there are parts from half a dozen different brands. Customers can go for the lower-end items from less-known makes or premium parts from companies like Bilstein and Monroe.
The third thing that I noticed, the Autodoc site is really easy to use. You can break down your parts searches to particular manufacturers, they allow you to quickly filter for front/rear and left/right-specific parts. The company obviously spent a lot of time working on the layout. You can also use the Autodoc app, though I haven't tried that.
The fourth highlight was their shipping partner. My item arrived courtesy of DHL, a courier I trust and one I actually prefer. Autodoc must have taken care of any import and customs fees as I paid a flat rate for the order.
Finally, they have a useful YouTube channel, though I don't believe they've done any Land Rover videos as of yet. You can request them on their YouTube page.Things I think Autodoc could improve on
I can't really fault them, I'd have to be super picky. Everything came well packed and I found the customer help team to be responsive and fast. All in all, I can definitely recommend them. Give them a try next time you're ordering parts for your Land Rover.
They have parts for the Discovery, Freelander, Defender, 88/109, 110/127, Range Rover Evoque, Velar and the Range Rover Classic The address is www.autodoc.co.uk.

Several aspects of the 2021 Formula 1 regulations remain to be decided ahead of the October 31 deadline, with a key Wednesday meeting in Paris offering stakeholders the last chance to debate the subject face-to-face.
The gathering is the fourth of a series held in recent months specifically to shape the 2021 rules, with representatives of the GPDA invited to join the FIA, Liberty and teams.
Two subsidiary meetings were held at Suzuka this weekend by way of preparation. One saw team managers discuss details of sporting regulations, such as the revised curfew. The other was specifically for strategists, where the results of recent simulations of the impact of potential changes – such as Saturday qualifying races – were analysed.
The big teams have been pushing back on some of the initiatives, especially those related to standard parts.
“Some of the regulations actually just came through on my email this morning,” said McLaren boss Zak Brown on Friday. “We’ll have the balance of what the future of F1 is going to look like in our hands next week, and then it should be finalised by the end of October.
“I think F1 does need some radical change. The amount of money we are spending is unnecessary relative to putting on a great show for the fans, which is what motor racing should first and foremost be about.
“If you have a lot of fans around the world you’ll have lots of sponsors, lots of promoters selling tickets, lots of manufacturers selling road cars etc. I think the F1 spend is way too much, and clearly we need closer racing and more unpredictability.
“I think Formula 1 is headed on the right path. I think it does need some drastic change and I’m confident that’s going to come in 2021.”
Scuderia Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto agreed that the Paris meeting would be “very important, because that’s the last one, altogether, before the end of the month when there will be a new vote”.
“I think there are still a lot of open points and discussions are still ongoing so how will be the conclusion of all these discussions, it is very difficult to say at the moment,” Binotto said. “There are various interests between teams, between the teams and F1, and the teams and the FIA.
“But certainly, as Ferrari, we are intending to play our role, we believe as Ferrari because of what Ferrari represents for F1, we’ve got a voice, an important voice in the discussions but no doubt that there’s still a lot of points to be addressed.”
Mattia Binotto reiterated that Ferrari was not keen to use its power of veto in 2021 discussions. “That will really be a shame. I don’t think that should be the case at all. I think we’ve got a good and open discussion with the stakeholders at the moment and I’m as well somehow hopeful that we can find the right compromise at the end.”

SPEED SPORT has been reporting on and covering motorsports happenings from all over the world for 85 years, so we thought it would be fun to take a look back in the archives to see what happened 10, 25 and 50 years ago each week.
So check out what SPEED SPORT was covering 10, 25 and 50 years ago this week in Looking Back!
Oct. 14, 2009 (10 Years Ago): Dario Franchitti completed his triumphant return to the IndyCar Series by winning the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway to lock up his second series championship. In a caution-free race, Franchitti got 50 laps out of his final tank of fuel to beat Ryan Briscoe to the checkered flag. Only the top-three finishers, Franchitti, Briscoe and Scott Dixon, finished on the lead lap.
Other Happenings: Matt Sheppard took the lead with eight laps left when a tire on leader Jimmy Phelps’ car exploded to win the Rite Aid 200 for big-block modifieds at the New York State Fairgrounds; Jimmie Johnson continued his pursuit of another NASCAR Cup Series title with a win at Auto Club Speedway; Parker Kligerman won the ARCA finale at Rockingham Speedway, but it wasn’t enough to stop Justin Lofton from claiming the series finale; Clay Rogers earned $23,000 for a USARacing Pro Cup win at Rockingham.
Oct. 12, 1994 (25 Years Ago): As Mario Andretti competed in the final IndyCar race of his career, Paul Tracy dominated the season finale at California’s Laguna Seca Raceway. Tracy, in his final race for Team Penske after verbally agreeing to join Newman/Haas Racing as a teammate to Michael Andretti, led 84 laps from the pole to easily win the race. Mario Andretti, meanwhile, finished 19th when the timing belt chain in his engine failed three laps from the finish.
Other Happenings: Dale Jarrett led the final four laps to win the Mello Yello 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway; Mello Yello parted ways with SABCO Racing, leaving Kyle Petty as a free agent as a result; Jimmy Horton won the Wheels 300 at the New York State Fairgrounds; Jimmy Sills won another USAC Silver Crown race, this time at the Cal Expo; Billy Pauch picked up a World of Outlaws win in Syracuse, N.Y.
Oct. 15, 1969 (50 Years Ago): Donnie Allison survived a torrid battle with his brother, Bobby Allison, and Buddy Baker to win the running of the National 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Donnie, the younger of the two Allison brothers, swapped the lead with his brother Bobby and Baker multiple times in the final 100 laps of the 334-lap race. Donnie Allison took the lead for the final time on lap 330 from Baker, leading the final four laps. Bobby Allison finished second to give the Allison family a one-two finish.
Other Happenings: A.J. Foyt won a USAC Stock Car race at the Missouri State Fairgrounds; Bruce McLaren stared in Can-Am competition at Laguna Seca; the 19th National Open was won by Ray Hendrick at Langhorne Speedway in Pennsylvania; T.C. Hunt collected a victory in NASCAR Grand Touring competition at Lakewood Speedway in Atlanta, Ga.

I recently became aware of Motortrend TV when they advertised that it included every episode of the Clarkson, Hammond, and May era of Top Gear. After doing some research, I find out they also have the broadcast rights to 20-30 different Motorsport categories around the world including some huge series (DTM, Australian Supercars, BTCC, WTCR, ERX, etc.)
My question(s) are for people who have used this service before. Do they broadcast the races live? How soon after are they archived on the site? Is the app chrome cast compatible? And how’s the overall broadcast quality, I assume they just pick up the main feed and commentary rather than produce their own, but is it in HD? Thanks
